After two years of work the Findex II project has come to an end with the internal evaluation and the financial report. Nearly 80 participants from different backgrounds, professions and countries (17 countries (15 EU)) had supported the working groups and packages of the project. In a meeting in Paris the two project partners EuroExpert and the EEEI presented the results, future project plans and thanked all participants for their contribution to a European Directory of Experts.
Some of the outcomes, as a part of a wider consensus process across Europe, are available for download. These are a set of criteria for the registration of qualified judicial experts, recommendations on how to assess the competence and qualities of expert candidates, recommendations on the management and publication of expert registers at national level. An important step towards a European Directory of Experts is the Findex II nomenclature of experts’ fields of expertise which can be mapped and connected to the nomenclatures of all Member States. A first idea on how the register could work is provided by the IT Demo tool, a prototype of an initial version of a possible European register of judicial experts.
